Gazex® Detail

Gazex® Highly reliability of exploder

The exploders are made of a tube and a steel elbow with a very high impact strength. Both are strengthened by metallization. There are three volumes available (0.8, 1.5 and 3 cubic metres) and two models:

  • Inertia exploders: The stresses and recoil from the explosion are absorbed by a mobile counterweight fixed in front of the machine. This system overcomes limitations due to the quality of the ground.
  • Standard exploders: The stresses and recoil are absorbed by 2 or 4 resin-coated rods fixed in ground suitable for anchor-points.
  • The mixture is ignited by a totally autonomous (unconnected to the gas storage tanks) depressurization ignition system per exploder. All exploders are fitted with safety lines and handles for easy and safe installation and maintenance.

Shelter: The Gazex shelter houses the dosage tanks and the oxygen and propane lines as well as the remote triggering control system. Up to 10 exploders can be connected to the center by polyethylene pipes buried in the ground or fixed to the rock up to a distance of 500 m (approximately 1,500 feet) from the shelter. Designed as a Faraday cage, the shelter is equipped with a lightning conductor mast to which the weather sensors, antennae, solar panel and wind-powered electrical generator propeller are attached.

Autonomous Chest: More compact than the shelter, the Chest performs the same functions for 1 or 2 exploders fired simultaneously. Basically, it is used in isolated corridors to limit or eliminate pipelines.

Power supply: The power supply is entirely autonomous via a battery charged by a solar panel or a wind-powered electrical generator (except for power cable control).

Control System: The system is remotely controlled by 12 Vdc or 220 Vac cable, by radio or by CEM approved GSM. Gas storage center parameters (weather, gas quantities, etc.) can be consulted by a simple connection. The firing sequence is protected by several levels of access codes. Seismometers are standard equipment in the shelters to provide a shockwave plot as visual confirmation of the explosion at the end of the firing sequence.
